Coding Day Challenge

  On March 4, 2021 the Eco9 class of E.S Laird had an all day coding challenge! We got the chance of using 4,000 dollars a set worth of equipment and learning how to code different tools. We learned how to use the breadboard and arduino board, how to make LED lights light up, how distance sensors work, how a piezo buzzer (speaker) makes noise, and much more. In our challenge we put all the skills we learned in the past few days together to make either a diagram of an automatic lifting bridge or a train crossing.
 In our groups of three we colored, designed and worked together cooperatively so we can get our project finished and working. People in each group made sure that everyone got a chance to do coding, building and wiring. There were some struggles at times but everyone found a way to get through it. This was a great experience and a great opportunity for us, we all had fun experimenting with our projects and getting time to do something different than regular class work. When the day was coming to an end each group got a chance to present their moving diagram to the class and explain how it works. This was a great day for the Eco9 class, and we are looking forward to more challenges in the future.
